Cramster breezer – summer mesh touring jacket Pictorial review
As Indian bike market started flooding with performance bikes ranging from pulsar to R1 to Ducati. The safety in bike riding takes the center stage. Bikers are more prone to accidents when compared to car riders. More than 60% of people who die because of road accidents are bikers. But unfortunately most bikers do not have the awareness on safety. Safety is utmost important not just for bikers who wanna to race but also for commuters. Infact commuters are exposed to most hostile environment than the die hard tourers and racers. I’m happy that atleast few bikers know the importance of primary safety component the helmet. But helmet is not alone sufficient to protect you. Your torso is exposed and you are vulnerable to serious injuries. That’s where the riding gear comes in. The riding gears may not be inevitable but one day it may save your hospital expenses also your life. Atleast from now, before pushing the bike hard, ensure that you are clothed well. Protective clothing includes a long list of apparels – jacket, riding pants, gloves, knee guards, boots, spine support, kidney protector, lower back support and many more.
Realised it? wanna buy a riding gear. You might be frightened by the long list. If you and go buy all these components, cost of them may exceed the cost of your bike. But for a commuter or a occasional tourer checking all the boxes is not mandatory you can pick up few necessary items. Another problem in choosing the riding gear is selecting the right one. Options are plenty and it is difficult to choose the right. Most of the world majors – alpine, joe rocket, axo and spidi are already here to serve their products to people like you. Also in the list are few home grown majors like Angel racing and cramster. Whom should i choose? Which one i have to buy to startwith? We will help you in this riding gears section. We are going to review the products of major players and also tell you how to headstart in this section. Track this space to know more…..In our today’s post we review the breezer of homegrown Cramster. Cramster who is known for its saddle bags has recently introduced riding gears and motorsport gear. The breezer featuring in our today’s reveiw is the least expensive and ideal for commuters.
Let’s start with the safety. Cramster breezer comes with CE approved armour for shoulders, elbow and back. (CE refers to the european certification standard to which the cramster armor has to adhere). Thankfully these are easily removable and hence washing the breezer is made simple. The outer shell of this cramster breezer is made up of cordura (Cordura was the registered name of a certified (nylon) fabric from DuPont). The cordura is increasingly getting popular as an alternative to leather jackets. Condura is light, washable and cheaper when compared to leather but its ability to protect the rider is still a matter of debate. The inner shell of the cramster’s breezer is a perforated breathing liner.
The jacket is very well constructed and has style to it. Apart from the safety this cramster breezer also make a style statement. Though this cramster breezer feels heavy-ish in your hand it feels light once worn. The venting works fine but the air doesn’t really get down into the jacket espescially when you are off the bike, so you’ll sweat a bit. But this breezer is waist, cuff and sleeve adjustable which means you can loosen and let the air in. The breezer is heavily pocketed (cramster has provided as many as five pockets for this breezer) but none of these are deep. Zippers are sturdy, smooth, no fuss. A quarter circle zip is provided at the rear to make it suitable for race days when combined with velocity (cramster’s trouser). Cramster also offers external raincoat with this jacket.
Buying a riding gear is easier said than done. Since the outlets are limited you have to order these gears can be ordered only through online. Some websites do offer great deals but the real problem lies in the size. You never know which one will fit you. Also the euro and american size standards might confuse you. Sufficient knowledge on your requirement is must. Cramster breezer size is offered in three choices M/40,L/41 and XL/42. Here the alphabet refers to american standard while the number follows it refers the Indian standard. For Eg: (In breezer M/40 M refers to the american standard and 40 refers to the Indian standard). Still not clear, your shirt size must be 40 if you are going to order M/40 breezer. Cramster breezer is offered in two colours – silvergrey with black and stop red with black. The reflectives offers additional protection for night riding. As i earlier said this jacket is ideal for day to day commuting and it costs only Rs4650 including the courier charge (within India). Apart from the safety this cramster breezer also make a style statement.
