7)  FZ16’s air cooled, 2 Valve,153cc engine is mated with a 5-speed tranmission.

* FZ16 is neither oil cooled nor fuel injected (FI) yet it breathes through negative pressure type carburetor.

* FZ16 pumps out 14PS of peak power and 14Nm of Peak torque. The peak torque comes at a lower rpm of 6000rpm.Yamaha says the peak torque of FZ16 is unprecendented.

The power and torque figure are on par with TVS apache RTR, Bajaj Pulsar, Honda Unicorn and Hero Honda Hunk.

8) The two layer 35mm dia (external tube) exhaust looks chunky and gives a sense of volume to FZ16. At the rear FZ16 gets monoshock suspension but no rear disc brake

9) Tubeless at the fore and aft of the FZ16 is an another nice feature. But what makes you jump to the skies. The 140-60 17R is the fattest tyre ever seen in an Indian bike. The tyre is also a radial again a first among Indian bikes.

Yamaha new FZ-16 150cc

You read it first at vicky.in

After pounding enemies with its fighter aircraft YZF R15, Yamaha will showcase its muscle power with the launch of FZ-16 today. The meaty and musucular FZ-16 is all set to draw battle lines with pulsars, apache and Hunk. Inspired from the iconic FZ-1 this new FZ-16 with in-your -face styling is sure to lure even the R15 lovers. The 12-litre fuel tank with integrated shrouds and bulbous exhaust is eye-catching that even a BMW rider won’t miss. Also the absence of cruiser bike (other than the Bullet’s) might also bring Yamaha first mover advantage.

The visible 153cc, 2 valve, SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft Engine) churns out 14PS of maximum power at 7500rpm. FZ-16 respires through a BS26 carburetor which operates through negative preesure. Peak torque of 13.6Nm is developed at 6000rpm. The 5 speed transmission of FZ-16 is a return type.

The massive dimensions adds character to the bike. FZ-16 lengths 1975mm, its width is 770mm and it height 1045mm. Though it looks massive, FZ-16 weighs just 126kg, gasps…parking and running at low speed won’t be an issue. The ground clearance of the FZ-16 is 160mm. The most important wheelbase parameter stood at 1335mm.

Built on a diamond frame, this new FZ-16 runs on tubeless tyres both at the front and the rear. At the fore it gets 100/60 -17 tyre and at the rear FZ-16 features fattest 140/60 -R17 tyre. You are reading it correctly, the rear tyre is a radial one. 267mm front disc brake and drum brake at the rear is to control this animal. The 41mm diameter hydraulic forks at the fore and mono-suspension at the rear will ensure stress-free cruising even during longer rides. We can expect better damping characteristics from FZ-16 as the front fork travel generous 130mm and the rear mono-cross suspension provides 120mm of wheel travel. Yamaha FZ-16 will be available in three colours – Lava Red, Midnight Black and Flaming Orange.

Hot news update on Yamaha FZ-16

Yamaha is all set launch to FZ-16 on 13th September.  By this time tommorrow, you would be reading about the launch of Fz-16. But we always wish to inform you first, here are few insider information you love to read.

* FZ-16 would be one of the very few street bikes available in India.

* The FZ1 inspired headlamps and meaty tank of FZ-16 will make others 150cc feel shy

* To compliment the masculine front, FZ-16 features  the bulbous exhaust and fender mounted rear lamp (similar to Bullet)

* FZ-16 is powered by an air cooled, SOHC, 153cc engine

* The 2 Valve engine respires through carburetor and features the Yamaha’s proven TPS (Throttle Position sensor)

* Toe only gear lever of FZ-16 is mounted on the sporty foot step holder follows the conventional 1-down and 4-up pattern.

* Both the tyres of the FZ-16 are tubeless.

* FZ-16 takes the credit becoming the first bike to feature tubeless radial tyres.

* Don’t complain about the R15’s lean rear tyre, the new FZ-16 gets widest rear tyre. 140/60-17 fattest isn’t it?

* Half chain cover and exposed chain will accentuate the rugged look of the FZ-16

* 267mm front disc brake, 41mm diameter front forks and mono cross suspension at the rear will ensure better driving dynamics of the FZ-16 .

* LCD speed would be an odd one for this monster. But again we love this feature and Yamaha wishes to blend the classic and modern.

Car Accessories – Spoiler for Fiesta and Swift

Still can’t fly – spoiler:

The next accessory which is sported in almost every car from Ambassadors (no kidding) and Lamborghinis is a rear spoiler. These are usually made from reinforced carbon fibre. Unlike a rear wing in a Bugatti Veyron, the one you see in Indian cars grip only your attention (pun intended, again). For obvious reasons, people usually stick to smaller but very stylish ones. As some cars come with factory-fitted spoilers, the aftermarket ones are usually made as novel as possible. Fitting a parking lamps in the spoiler usually makes it looks like a factory fitted one (no matter how ridiculous it is.

Ford Fiesta  – spoiler

The type of cars that work well with spoilers are only seen in race tracks, but on the road sedans are your best bet. Longer as they usually are rear wings make the car stand out. But in most cases if it is smaller and subtle it does not win as many hearts. It is a neat accessory, no doubt, but doesn’t really steal the show. The health trend of the manufacturer offering customizations has started to catch up albeit in a small way. In the fiesta seen below, the spoilers are spot on and lends a slightly sporty look to the car. The finish is perfect(courtesy Ford India) and does not hinder by protruding out of the car.

Maruti Suzuki Swift  – Spoiler

The Swift is one of the few cars which lookes factory-made for customization. First of all there is a lot of space on the body to experiment with. The spoiler seen here works well with most hatchbacks. And wherelse can you mount a spoiler on a small car. But do keep in mind that if you get ambitious and fit a bigger spoiler you will have to worry about it in every traffic jam. So subtlety is the key for small cars.

The way the spoilers are fitted to the car themselves tell a whole new story. Fitting them close to the centre and tall, either highlights the spoiler, in a good way or bad. A little farther from the centre and slanting towards the rear make the car look dynamic and in some cases sleek. Choosing a spoiler can be one of the toughest decision you had to make if you are not satisfied by the tried and tested options. So we are refraining from offering you any hard and fast rule about choosing or using them, because you’ll see people who’ve made good choices looking doubtful and people with terrible taste swearing by theirs.

Reva’s echange offer

The polluting owners now get a chance to ride green cars. India’s largest electric car company Reva is organising an innovative offer through which you can exchange your fossil fuel burner and get an eco friendly electric car. Reva’s “Petrol to Electric Car Exchange Mela” is being condected in Bangalore on September 13-14, at its showroom. You can exchange your petrol / diesel car and get a brand new RevaI in return. R Chandramouli, President, Sales and Marketing, RECC said, “RECC is really proud to bring the first ever petrol to electric car exchange offer to customers in India. It is a big step towards fulfilling the growing need for a suitable, cost effective, environment friendly transportation alternative. Besides protecting our customer’s pockets; going for electric cars is also friendly to the environment.”

The evaluation for exchanged cars will be done by Mahindra First Choice, a used car dealer. The State Bank of India, which is the partner for this exchange fair will be present at showroom to assist customers on finance matters.
