Fiat Linea Review

Fiat Linea Pictorial Review – interiors

Fiat Linea: Inside the linea, your excitement will hit new heights. Look at the shapes of the driver glass front quarter glass and A-pillar. I wonder how production engineers make this kind of paperart into production. On your face dual tone dashboard looks good but the wow factor is missing.

Interior Pictures of Fiat Linea

Fiat Linea: The ergonomics has never been Fiat’s forte. but this linea is an exception. The ergonomics may not be the best in its class but good. The central console is legibly placed and controls are accesible. The steeply rakish windscreen and useless front quarter glass hampers you from getting the clear view. But the height adjustable driver seat and tilt steering helps you to find comfortable seating position. Also the driver facing ignition scoket is quite an usable feature.

fiat_linea_47

Fiat Linea: The suspension offers absorbs shocks and vibrations with ease, however the movement of body parts and diesel clatter makes the cabin distrubed. Also the seats which hugs you and offers good underthigh support is stiff and long journey is sure to develop fatigue. A three at the back seat of the linea is not a bad idea. Linea has enough leg room and shoulder room to accomodate three adults. A 500L boot space is a boon espescially for weekend drives.

fiat_linea_31

Fiat Linea: Fit and Finish of linea is a mixed bag it scores at some point and it fails at few points. Bad things first, glove boxes needs atleast three attempts to shut. Also the bonnet lever is loosely fitted and tends to break. However doors shut with perfect thud. The arm rest, steering and door levers portrays the superior quality.

fiat_linea_32fiat_linea_43fiat_linea_59

Fiat Linea: ABS with EBD, twin airbags, A/C vents for rear passenger, programmable Follow me home headlamps, head rest for all passenger, alloy wheels, steering mounted audio control and the voice command Blue and ME system makes the Linea a value for money product.White back lit Instrumentation is simple and legible. Digital odo, digital real time mileage indicator and digital door open indicator which tells you (really a nice option to have).

fiat_linea_19fiat_linea_18

Fiat Linea: comes in as many five variants – active, dynamic, dynamic PK, emotion and emotion PK. Pricing starts from Rs5,98,967 and goes upto Rs8,10,004. Fiat ensures a car for everyone who enters the showroom. Considering the features Linea have, the price is very attractive.

fiat_linea_44

Verdict: Has Fiat come up with a product that can revive its glory and sell even in this downturn?? Linea is a complete package and the Multijet diesel is sure pull customers of SX4 and new city. Also Linea is very attractively priced and a VFM product. Linea has tons of practical features. Yet, we have few concerns too.. the interiors are staid and boring, quality of few parts could have been better and finally the ASS (After Sales Support) which we will come to know in few months. For the moment, welcome the style on wheels with open hands and admire her.

Fiat Linea Test Drive

Fiat Linea Pictorial Review – exteriors

A true leader is not who never losses but who has the ability to come back strongly after the loss.  Fiat wants to be a leader. Fiat who once ruled the market now struggling to revive its glory. To make a mark again in India, Fiat has reorganised and overhauled its India operations. It tied up with Tata Motors for joint distribution and manufacturing of cars. Last year it promised exciting cars for the Indian market. In 2008,  Fiat launched 500 cinquecento. Fiat kickstarts 2009 with linea, while the former is just a brand buliding exercise, this launch is siginificant and litmus test for fiat. Let’s check out Fiat’s new linea, can it turnaround the fortune for Fiat India???

Fiat Linea: This is not a car you will come across everyday. Linea is special, this kind of styling you won’t find any other car. The ferrari maker has done what it is best known for. It’s true that linea is nothing but flowing lines. Every where there is eye catching curved shapes, you can’t find a rectangular structure. Every forms and shapes excites you, nothing you would have seen before.

Pictures of Fiat lineafiat_linea_2

Fiat Linea: The design is unmistakably italian, parabolic drop like headlamps nicely sits on the sides of the masculine larger chrome grille. Rakish windscreen and bonnet are homogeneous thus dynamism is ensured even when the car is standstill. The 15″ alloy wheels, chunky rear view mirrors and flared up wheel arches gives a sleek side profile for the linea. The rear is simple and uncluttered. Look the linea from any angle, it cool. Admiration guaranteed.

fiat_linea_48

Fiat Linea: Linea comes with two engine options. 1.4L Petrol engine is a Fiat’s popular Fully integrated robotised engine’ (FIRE) unit oozing out max power of 90PS and 115Nm of max torque at 4500rpm. Our test drive car is a diesel one and under the hood it has the most successful award winning 1.3-litre 16v MultiJet diesel. Fiat has put in VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) and tuned up the engine for more power. Multijet diesel generates 86PS of peak power at 4000rpm and 203Nm of peak torque at 2500rpm.

fiat_linea_27

Fiat Linea: Switch on the ignition, you know whether its a diesel or a petrol. But as start flooring the accelerator you can listen the diesel clatter that creeps into the cabin. But on the performance front, this multijet is a gem, it is perky and loves to be revived. There is no discern-able turbo lag. Light gearbox offers precise shift and linea is most driveable in the city. Out on the highway the things change otherwise. While the 120kmph comes quicker, the needles struggles to move after that. The engine turns noisy at higher speeds. However the multijet again proves its frugal character, even while towing 1200kg linea it returns a mileage of 14kmpl.

fiat_linea_57

Fiat Linea: Though the steering is not light, it is responsive. Linea’s Mcpherson strut and non independent torison beam suspension set up makes it a impressive handler. Throw her into a corner at high speed, turn the wheel still it goes in the intended direction. 195/60 tyres offers impressive grip and brakes delivers a decent bite.

fiat_linea_55

Fiat Linea: Linea is available in four colours – flamenco red, minimal grey, parla champagne and hip hop black. Thankfully we got the hip hop black linea for our test drive. It is gorgeous and the black colour gives a premium feel. If you are going to book a linea, do have a look at the hip hop black.
