Fiat India which has been buzzing with impressive sales of Punto and Linea wants to ride on the success of the models. Come 2010, at Delhi Auto Expo Fiat will showcase the powerful linea. Currently, Fiat linea is powered by 1.3L diesel engine and 1.4L petrol engine. Linea owners which boasts about its features complains on lack of necessary punch. Fiat has powerful diesel engines – 1.6L and 1.9L one of which will make into India. The 1.6L Multijet produces 120PS of peak power. The 1.9L multijet version comes with two configurations – 8 valves and 16 valves. These engines have four different power outputs – 100PS, 120PS,130PS and 150PS. BMW starts another innings
The German car company, known for its luxury, BMW has launched a new sports car Z4 Roadster. The car, costing Rs59lakhs, has two seats, a 2,979cc powered petrol engine. BMW believes that the car would fulfil the expectations of pure driving, high standard of elegance and value. The car will be suitable for routine drive and comfort. Facing a tough competition against Mercedes-Benz in the Indian market, for the top slot,(the sale for the first 8 months in this 2009 was that BMW sold 2305 units while Mercedes could fetch 2026 units) BMW has targeted 30-40 units of Roadster for the initial year.
In all BMW has set a target of 3000 units for this year, of which 75% of luxury sedan will be from the Indian market- the 3 series, the 5 series. BMW is doing well with its 6 series, 7 series, X3, X5, X6 in SUV and M3, M5 and M6 in the convertible sports coupe segment. All these are completely built units in India. To ease the marketing of its vehicles, BMW has come out with a financial support scheme with an investment of a USD 50 million, according to the company’s President Kronschnabi.
BMW launches Z4
BMW today launched its sports car Z4 in a glittering ceremony in Mumbai. The Z4 powered a 3.0L petrol engine is a two seater sports car. Z4 is priced Rs59 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). “With the new BMW Z4 we want to reach out to new target groups in India who appreciate a pure driving experience, high standard of elegance and value, and suitability for everyday driving and comfort,” BMW India President Peter Kronschnabl said.

GM Chevrolet launches Cruze
GM India today launched the all new Cruze in India. Attractively styled cruze is one of the most awaited GM’s global car. Cruze comes with a 2.0L diesel engine and exciting lists of features. GM will launch the petrol variant and an automatic variant of cruze within next four months. GM Cruze is very competitively priced. The prices of variants range between Rs10.99 lakhs and Rs12.45 lakhs. As Tata finalizes the formalities for the launch of Indigo Manza, pictures are leaked across net. Now the specifications and features of indigo manza are out. The Indigo manza comes with two engine options – safire petrol and quadrajet diesel. Both the engines generates 90PS of peak power and badged indigo manza quadrajet90 and indigo manza safire90.
* Tata indigo Manza quadrajet develops 90PS of max power at 4000rpm and a massive peak torque of 200Nm between 1750 – 3000 rpm.
* Tata Indigo Manza safire churns out 90PS of max power at 6000rpm and 116Nm of max torque at 4750rpm
* Both the safire and quadrajet engines are sourced from Fiat and power ratings are similar to Linea
* A five speed manual transmission is standard for all variants of Indigo Manza
* Indigo Manza runs on 185/60 R15 radial tubeless tyres
* Indigo Manza is dimensionally bigger than outgoing indigo in every aspect. The indigo manza is 4413mm in length, 1703mm broader and 1550mm taller. With a wheelbase of 2520mm and luggage space of 490litres, it should be spacious like any other tata cars.
