A small touch up for Hyundai Verna

India bound KTMs displayed at EICMA!

The EICMA Show in Italy has come as an ideal avenue to display the ensuing bike range of Austrian Marquee KTM 125cc. the project is a share between Bajaj (32% share) and the Austrian KTM headquarted in Mattighofen and is expected to be accelerated by the riders in 2010. This will be a new variant in the 125cc sector and will differ from the existing ones- powered by high-tech machines; a single cylinder 125 cc engine to yield 15hp; a 4-valve DOHC (Double Over Head Camshafts) engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection are the hall marks of this bike.

To engineer pleasure, designed by Gerald Kiska, and will have usual tubular steel lattice frames, high spec WP suspension and Brembo brakes. The bikes will be displayed in the ensuing Delhi Auto Show in January 2010, of course, with some changes in style. At the launch the bikes will be delivered in variants. Tata seeks a good relief from the turmoil of JLR

Tata Motors is seeking a momentary relief from the downfall of its buy Jaguar Land Rover. The company explores all means to continue with it, overcoming the difficult phase, undergoing for the last 7 months, said its Chairman Ratan Tata.

In this connection the company has addressed the consultancy of KPMG International and Roland Berger Strategy on the terms of cost of this luxury unit ( which Tata brought to India at Rs$2.5 billion last year).

The sale of JLR has fallen since its launch, pushing Tata to face the first ever huge loss in 7 years (pre tax loss of Rs873 crores). The British company has earlier announced that it has decided to shut down the two factories in England’s West Midlands and provide jobs at the third one so as to run the show profitably.

General Electric Co’s GE Capital division, the lender for the make of Jaguar Land Rover has procured $286 million for the five year working capital. Tata Motors, for its part has generated $750 million last month by offering securities in a bid to refinance the debt taken in this regard.

Fiat

Fiat India has chalked out its plan for it Punto to have CNG, to be ready by the 2Q pf 2010, said its CEO. The move is to save money, as LPG is costlier than CNG and CNG proves to be better than LPG.

FIAL is in a jv with the Italian company on 50:50 basis and has been in the industry since 1997 with the production unit in Ranjangaon in Pune, which has the capacity of 2 lakh cars, 3 lakh engines and equal volume of accessories. The plant is in the service of making Tata passenger and next generation cars at an investment of Rs650 million euro.

In addition, the company will launch a new small car in 2012, in the mid- range of A and B he said. A happy moment is that Fiat diesel is arriving India soon to fit in Linea, Grade Punto and Fiat 500.

Fiat set to drive in small car in 2011

Following the footsteps of Honda, Fiat is scheduling its small car for 2011. The prototype of this car is already designed from the company’s studio in Turin. The car is exclusively designed for Indian road and will be manufactured from Ranjangaon plant. The company’s Indian CEO said the car will be labeled between A and B sectors and is definitely to be launched by 2011.

This new car will have the engine with the capacity of 700-1000 cc capacity to provide maximum output of fuel efficiency. The manager at the Powertrain, the company’s development wing for car, trucks, boats and gensets is confident that  the new car will yield a good result for the company.

TVS Motor set to launch 100cc gearless scooter

At last TVS Motor has come to the grips for its 100 cc gearless scooter in a bid to thwart the growing popularity of Honda Activa(selling 55000 units). Hero Honda’s Pleasure is no inferior – 15000 units – and TVS is primarily a brand known for the scooters among the women riders. According to the company sources, the new scooter will be built with a regular metal body, best available speed, handling, comfort and stability. The scooter will have the best engine and its price will be reasonable and affordable(Rs45000) akin to Honda Activa. TVS has, over the years , built a good brand image in this sector especially with its Scooty (30000 units a month) and this gain will be the base for its new venture.

TVS is mooting another auto-clutch motorbike alongwith this Scooter to drive fast its sale net. Auto Expo 2010 will have an access to have a look on both these products. The gearless scooter is in the market since 1980s from Kinetic Honda which was highly preferred by the women riders. (men riders were in the waves of Hero Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki).

As the Indian road conditions moulded the riders, gearless scooters from Honda individually – Honda Activa- swayed the market. Kinetic, which departed from its tie with Honda, got a new arm M&M and with the technical assistance from SYM of Taiwan there are two models of 125cc gearless scooters.
