Bajaj launches new Discover 125 ST

Bajaj has launched a new variant of its Discover bike christened the Discover 125 ST. ST refers to Sports Tourer. The new Discover somewhat resembles the recently launched Pulsar 200NS. It is powered by a 125cc DTS-i engine designed with four valves which delivers a power output of 12.8bhp. The new Discover 125 ST is the first bike to feature monoshock rear suspension and petal discs up front along with “DTS-i Twin Spark technology” in its segment. Expected at an ex-showroom price of Rs.55,000, the new Discover will reach the dealers across the country by the end of June. The Discover 125 ST will be sold along with the currently available Discover model.

KTM developing 375cc bike in JV with Bajaj

KTM in partnership with Bajaj is now working for a new 375cc motorcycle at the Bajaj Auto’s R&D center in Pune. After its launch, the new motorcycle of Bajaj-KTM will be featuring the second highest capacity engine in India. The bike will feature a 375cc twin-cylinder engine which is expected to deliver around 35 to 38bhp of peak power and around 30Nm of torque. The new bike is expected to be priced around Rs.2.5-3 lakhs. By the time Bajaj and KTM bring in their more powerful motorcycle, we can expect rivals to unleash their 400cc motorcycles on Indian roads. Honda is rumoured to be developing the CBR400R, while Yamaha too is being cited to develop the R4.

Maruti hikes Dzire price

Due to the rising input costs, Maruti has hiked the prices of its new Swift Dzire model from this month by up to Rs.12,000. Maruti has offered this price hike only to the diesel variants of its new Dzire.

Regarding this price hike, a senior official of Maruti Suzuki informed that the company is feeling the pressure of input costs. To mitigate the impact, they have hiked the prices of only the diesel variants of the new DZire with effect from May 1. He also added that the company has increased the rates of the model between Rs.8,000 and Rs.12,000.

New Fiat Linea for India?

The face-lifted version of Linea has been launched by Fiat in Turkey. The Indian version of new Fiat Linea is still not confirmed. The new Linea has got a mid-cycle facelift featuring an updated styling and a refreshed cabin. The styling highlights include a new front grille, re-profiled bumper, new fog lamp clusters and additional chrome strip at the rear bumper. The refreshed cabin holds a lot of many new goodies which are as follows:

i) New three-layered two-tone dashboard

ii) Silver-touch steering wheel

iii) A new integrated audio system and modern AC vents at the centre console

iv) Refreshed instrument cluster holding chrome-ringed recessed dials and circular centres

Bajaj launches new Discover 4G

Bajaj has launched a new variant of its Discover (100cc) bike christened the Discover 4G. The 4G stands for 4 gears. Hence, the new variant features only four gears and not five. No other changes are seen in the bike and its engine displacement is also the same 100cc. The new four gear variant of Discover is Rs.2000 cheaper than that of the five gear 100cc Discover. The new Discover 4G is priced Rs.42,500 (Ex-Delhi).

Honda offers minor updates to CB Shine

Honda’s 125cc CB Shine has got minor updates in it and is now available at a price of Rs.47,804 (Ex-Delhi).

i) The updates include new graphics on its front visor, rear cowl, side cover and the fuel tank.

ii) Also, in addition to the existing colours, Honda offers two additional colours to the bike namely the Force Silver Metallic and Monsoon Grey Metallic.

iii) Two of the Shine’s variants now come with tubeless tyres as standard.

Mahindra to launch all-new Scorpio in 2014

Mahindra has started its work for the introduction of an updated version of Scorpio. The new Scorpio is now codenamed as W105. Mahindra is now working at its new research facility in Chennai for the Scorpio. The new Scorpio will get heavy modifications in it and it will not be built around a car-like monocoque. The car will be featuring a lengthened wheelbase, an all-new body and an updated m-Hawk engine expected to offer 140bhp of power. Mahindra is also well concerned with the fuel economy of the new Scorpio. The new Scorpio is expected to hit our roads in 2014. Other details will be revealed later.

Hero Motocorp increases its products price

Inorder to tackle the rising input costs, Hero MotoCorp has raised the prices of its products by Rs.500 to Rs.1000. Regarding this, Mr.Anil Dua, Hero MotoCorp’s Senior vice-president, Marketing and sales stated that the company does not expect a major rise in material costs going forward.

The company also stated that its profit for the fiscal fourth quarter to end-March rose 20 percent from a year previous, lagging market expectations. Hero MotoCorp reported a 20.3 percent rise in net profit at Rs.603.5 crores for the quarter ended March 31, 2012. It was Rs.501.6 crores in the same period a year ago.

Audi launches new updated A4

Audi has launched an updated version of its largest selling vehicle A4. The new A4 will be available across all dealers in India. The price of the new A4 starts from Rs.27.33 lakhs (Ex-Maharashtra). The updated A4 gets refreshed styling and is loaded with a lot of good features.

The exterior styling features a slightly modified front-end featuring a curvaceous headlamp. The LED running lamps are also reworked and now it offers a continuous glow.

The interior features a new steering wheel design, newly designed switchgear, higher quality dashboard, centre console trim applications and slightly modified optional MMI.

The engine options include a 1.8-litre TFSI petrol, 2.0-litre TDI Diesel and 3.0-litre TDI diesel with Quattro all-wheel drive. The 1.8 TFSI petrol and the 2.0 TDI Diesel offers an ARAI mileage of 15.6kmpl and 16.5kmpl respectively.

The other features of the car include a longer wheelbase, a new six-corner single-frame grille, a re-profiled bumper with trapezoidal-shaped fog lamps, new tail lamps with altered LED graphics and a new bumper at the rear.

The prices (Ex-Maharashtra) of new Audi A4 are as follows:

i) 1.8 TFSI Petrol – Rs.27.33 lakhs

ii) 2.0 TDI Diesel – Rs.29.38 lakhs

iii) 3.0 TDI Diesel Quattro – Rs.38 lakhs
