Chevrolet to launch updated Spark by this year end

An updated version of Chevrolet Spark is to be launched by the end of this year. The updated features of the Spark include

i) Re-profiled front and rear bumpers

ii) New fog lapms

iii) A honeycomb grille

iv) A bigger Chevy bow-tie emblem

v) New outside rear-view mirrors with integrated turn-lights

The interiors also will get some minor updates. The styling and the design of the new Spark will be taken from the electric Spark showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo. General Motors is working for the new Spark at its technical centre in Bangalore.

Honda to launch CBR400R in India

Honda CBR400R is to re-enter the domestic market and is to stand in between CBR250R and CBR600RR. Indian market is also expected to get the CBR400R motorcycle. Honda has made this decision in order to offer an additional option of motorcycle to the customers. The powerful parallel twin CBR400R will be best suitable for daily use. The design looks somewhat similar to CBR150R, CBR250R and it seems that Honda has taken some design cues from the CBR600RR also. The CBR400R has a capability of delivering more than 50bhp of peak power and its top speed is 200kmph. Other details are yet to be revealed. Expect the CBR400R to be launched soon.

Honda to launch a new compact MPV in 2014

Honda plans for a new MPV to take on the recently launched Maruti Ertiga. The new compact MPV of Honda will be launched at the end of 2014 and is codenamed as 2NH. To be built on the platform of the next-gen Jazz, the 2NH will feature three rows of seats and accommodate around seven members. It will be available as both petrol and diesel engine variants. The engine options would be an upgraded 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine of City and the Honda’s all-new 1.4-litre or 1.6-litre diesel engine. The 2NH is likely to feature conventional doors along with best-in-class space and good driving dynamics. Stay tuned to get more details of Honda’s new 2NH.

Fiat launches limited edition of Punto

Fiat has opened its second new showroom for India in Pune. At the new Fiat Caffe, the company has launched a new limited edition of Punto 90HP christened the Punto Sport. The price of the new Punto Sport is Rs.7.36 lakhs (Ex-Delhi). It is powered by the Fiat’s 1.3-litre 90bhp Multijet diesel motor.

The special features of the variant include special decals on the sides and rear with colour-coded wing mirrors, chrome-door handles and a chrome exhaust tip. The other safety and comfort features of the Punto Sport include an integrated CD/MP3 player with USB and Bluetooth, dual stage airbags, ABS with EBD and automatic climate control.

The interior got many upgrades which are as follows:

i) Punto branded door sills

ii) Red stitching on seats

iii) Leather gear knob & gear cover

iv) Aluminum pedals

v) Additional chrome bits on the dash

Trax – the new mini SUV of Chevrolet

Chevrolet plans for the launch of its all-new mini SUV christened the Trax. The image of Trax has been revealed by the company and it will make its debut in September at the Paris Motor Show. Trax looks somewhat similar to the Captiva. The new mini SUV of Chevrolet is to be built on the same platform of Aveo and will be sold in 140 countries excluding USA. Chevrolet plans to launch the new Trax first in Mexico. Other details are not yet revealed. It seems that the new Chevrolet Trax will be a tough competitor to the new Ecosport of Ford after the launch.

Mahindra launches New Cool Thar

An upgraded A/C version of Mahindra Thar has been launched at a price of Rs.6.75 lakhs (Ex – Mumbai). The new Thar features a factory-fitted air-con system. Powered by a 2.5-litre CRDe engine, the Thar delivers 105bhp of peak power. It is available in both BSIV and BSIII DI engine variants.

Fiat to launch sports variant of Punto

An all-new Sports variant of Punto will be launched tomorrow by Fiat in India. This new variant of Punto will be available in Black, White and Red colour shades. The engine options are the same 1.2-litre, 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel engines. The design of the car looks better with some goodies. The new interesting features of the Punto Sports variant include

i) Chrome exhaust tip

ii) Body decals

iii) Dashboard with chrome lining

iv) Hot black alloy wheels

v) Racing graphics

Suzuki launches Hayate at Rs.40,162

Suzuki has launched its new 110cc Hayate motorcycle in India at a starting price of Rs.40,162 (Ex-Pune). The five available shades of Hayate are white, black, grey, red and green. It is powered by a 112.8cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The engine is mated to a four-speed, all-down shifted gearbox.

Hayate looks similar to Suzuki’s Slingshot featuring a new set of graphics and an eight-litre fuel tank. A single downtube frame and conventional telescopic forks help in offering front suspension. The 5-way adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers are present at the rear. Hayate is available in both kick start and electric start versions costing Rs.40,162 and Rs.42,162 respectively.

Hyosung launches limited edition of GT650N

Hyosung has launched the limited edition of its expensive GT650N motorcycle in India. It is powered by a 647cc DOHC 8 valve water cooled engine which churns out a peak power of 72bhp. The bike costs Rs.15,000 more holding some additional features which include

i) New decals on the tank and the rear panels

ii) Pin striping on the alloy wheels

iii) Golden-finish exhaust pipe

iv) Bright red coloured frame, tank and rear panels

The top speed of the bike is 210 kilometre per hour and it can reach 100 kilometre per hour in just 5.5 seconds.

Honda launches Dream Yuga

HMSI has launched its new 110cc motorcycle, the Dream Yuga at a price of Rs.44,642 (Ex-Delhi). The styling of the bike resembles Honda’s Shine. The Dream Yuga is powered by a 110cc, single-cylinder engine churning out a peak power of 9bhp. The bike features a self-starter, alloy wheels, long seat, full chain cover and tubeless tyres as options. It is available in five colours namely Monsoon Grey Metallic, Alpha Red Metallic, Maple Brown Metallic, Force Silver Metallic and Black. The Dream Yuga is likely to compete with Bajaj Discover, Hero MotoCorp Passion Pro, Splendor Prop and the Yamaha YBR.
