Mercedes Benz India is evolving its strategy to reach double-digit growth in 2010, compared to 2009. The penetrating potential in the Indian car market makes the company to scalp more prospects. 2009 was not a good year for the company as it could sell 3220 cars against 3250 in 2008. But for 2010, the company is pinning on the hope with more number of ranges already launched and some to be launched at Delhi Auto Expo.
The Expo happens to be an ideal platform for automakers for launching new vehicles. Mercedes Benz is wholly owned by Daimler and has been in the Indian market for the past 15 years, having started the presence as a JV with Tata Motors. With the exhaust of JV in 1997, the company started dealing with C,E, and S class cars from the plants offered by Tata Motors till 2008. In February 2009 the company started its own plant in Pune.
