Maruti Suzuki has planned to introduce the diesel variant of Celerio hatchback by April 2015 in the price range starting from Rs 4 lakhs.Like other diesel variants,it is expected to come in three trim levels- LDi, VDi and ZDi.Now the tests are going on the upcoming variant in Japan.The sedan holds the ZDi badge to indicate it as a diesel engine,that makes it distinct from petrol/CNG variants of the car .It is believed that Maruti Suzuki would choose to use a 793 cc,twin- cylinder unit with common rail technology as the small oil-burner to be employed in a passenger car in India.It is likely to be mated with ATM gearbox,to produce at the mileage of 30kpl.Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up to enter into the commercial vehicle segment LCV,codenamed as Y9T that is also claimed to get the same diesel engine as Celerio ,but in a different state of tune.Next to the Honda City,that is in current up market,this Celerio diesel would become the most fuel efficient car to be sold in India.Here are some spy pictures of upcoming Celerio diesel variant.
