Maruti Suzuki plans to facelift its flagship product – Alto to meet the upcoming Bharat IV emission norms. Also which has been ruling the Indian passenger car market for past many years will get a new KB series engine. Maruti might use the tuned down engine of A-star to keep the cost under check and give Chevrolet spark and Hyundai santro a run for its money. Maruti Suzuki MD & CEO S Nakanishi said, “We have exhausted our quota of new cars with eight new launches in India in the past three years. Now we are looking at strengthening our leadership by refreshing our old portfolio.” The company has developed the new KB series petrol engines with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore, which will be strapped in several of these cars”. We have already reported on Omni,800 and Versa facelift. Maruti will also strap Bharat IV compliant engines in Swift and Grand Vitara before April 2010.
