Hindustan Motors is mulling efforts to change its 60 years old Ambassador as its sales is not good nowadays. And so,its generous boot has been detached to four metres that qualifies it to be a small car in order to make it more favourable. It features the same rounded hump but with a sharp truncated rear part.
It will sport the same existing 1.5 litre diesel engine which pumps out a power of 35.5bhp and a torque of 13.7kgm.It is expected that the Hindustan Motors will update this motor significantly in order to speed up the performance. It could even feature a turbocharger to meet the latest emission standards.
It will make its debut at the end of this year or at the Auto Expo in January 2012.HM can expect to save around Rs 30,000 and this benefit of cost is likely to be passed on to customers.
