Harley Davidson,the Premium motorcycle maker of US has announced today that it has introduced its 1,200cc superbike ‘Forty-Eight’ in India which is to be priced around 8.5 lacs(ex-showroom, Delhi).The US iconic brand has started selling its imported bikes in India only from this year.
Previous month,Harley Davidson had revealed that it would not increase the prices of its two models that is to be assembled in India despite an increase in import duty for completely knocked down parts.
In November 2010, Harley Davidson announced to start assembling bikes in India from this year.After Brazil,the Indian plant will be only its second facility outside its home-base.In December 2010, the company had declared that the SuperLow and Iron 883 will be the first two models to be rolled out of the CKD assembly facility in Bawal in Haryana.The ex-showroom prices of the SuperLow and Iron 883 bikes are around Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh respectively.
The bookings of the superbike ‘Forty-Eight’ will commence from this month and the bike will be available across the five Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country.
