After the i10, Hyundai is preparing to launch yet another stunner called i20. Similar to the i10, the i20 will be solely prodcued in India and will be exported to other countries. Hyundai will officially unveil the i20 at the upcoming paris show and the Indian launch will happen sometime in November. But before all that Hyundai has leaked few more details on i20.
The i20 is built with seven engines to cater to the needs of different market. Of these, the 1.2L gasoline engine producing 78bhp and 1.4L diesel with compatibilties of 75bhp and 90bhp are Indian bound. The i20 is based on a new platform with a wheelbase of 2.53 meters. The compact hatch however is ecpected to be more roomier than the Getz. The luggage compartment of i20 is 295 liters. Similar to the i10 for the best city ride, i20 is equipped with a new rack and pinion steering setup that has been tuned to deliver quick and accurate responses resulting in excellent urban agility. To offer superior ride to the passengers i20 rides one MacPherson strut at the front and rear torsion beam suspension.
For the safery of the i20 occupants, Hyundai will offer six airbags – front, side and curtain, active headrests, front seatbelt pretensioners and latest generation anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. But as usual the Indian version of i20 will get only few of these features.
